From 1926

Sunday School in Salisbury Road

The Sunday School grew strongly, using a rented building opposite and a nearby garage when more room was needed.

From 1938

The new hall

The Baytree Road building provided a dedicated hall for Sunday School.

1965

More rooms

The extension created further rooms. The old hall became Spurgeon Hall and the new hall was named Clarence Hall.

1971 to 1972

Junior Church moves to the morning

After a church commission, Junior Church moved to Sunday morning in January 1972. Children joined the first part of the 10:30am service before going to age-appropriate classes.

Across the generations

Celebrations and teaching

Sunday School anniversaries, Christmas celebrations, Bible teaching and children's worship have remained important parts of church life.

From 1931

Monday Ladies' Meeting

Mrs Thompson began the meeting in 1931. It grew to more than 100 people within months and its Monday tradition has continued.

Thursday afternoons

A further ladies' meeting met twice each month on Thursday afternoons.
