Church Buildings and Manses

The buildings and homes that have supported MBC's worship, ministry and mission.

1926 to 1938

Salisbury Road site and building

The first building cost £447. The first evening service was held on 15 August 1926 and morning worship began the following week. It was sold to the Salvation Army in 1938.

Purchased 1933

Baytree Road site

The site was bought for £415.

Opened 1938

Baytree Road church building

The new church opened in January. It was built by John Dyer for £3,280.

Completed 1965

Alterations and extension

New buildings and alterations were completed for £14,350.

1994 to 1995

Structural failure and rebuilding

Signs of structural failure appeared in 1994. In 1995 the church decided on a rebuild and refit costing about £900,000.

1998 to 1999

Temporary accommodation

Services moved to Worle School during redevelopment, while a room above Poppadoms provided office space.

Opened 1999

The present church building

The congregation returned on 4 April. The building work itself cost £806,370.

Rented from 1937

56 Baytree Road

The first rented manse housed Rev W. A. Pearce and later Norman Finney.

Purchased 1959

66 Baytree Road

Bought for £3,750 for Rev William Hitchcock. The garden was later sold, and the house was sold in 1979 for £27,900.

From 1979

20 Ashcombe Gardens

This became the manse for Roger Collins and was later sold for £44,000.

1980s

84 St Marks

This housed assistant pastor Brian Lawrence and later supported the developing Worle fellowship.

From 1986

2 Falcon Crescent

This was provided for Antony Orr, then rented and later sold.

1993 to 2025

7 Pleshey Close

Bought for D. Marc Owen for £79,000. It was later used by Roy Connor, then rented, and sold in 2025 for £360,000.

2006 onward

Later manses

Cherrywood Road served John S. Smith, 151 Milton Road served Bob McKay, and Hughenden Road became the manse for Lou Luft in 2025.
